Here we are…the start!

Welcome to the Ingredients of Wellness.

When I first mentioned the name of this blog to a friend the first thing that came to mind for her was that it may be about cooking wholesome food.  Well that’s not such a bad first impression, but that’s not all I intend for this blog.  Sure we will share some awesome ingredients and recipes over time, but for now let me explain a little more about what Ingredients of Wellness – nourishing the body and mind is about and why I think many of you will like what I have to offer.

Angie

My name is Angie and I am an optimist and a wellness enthusiast…a full time seeker of wellness.   I am a graduate of Master of Wellness (MoW) program out of RMIT University – you can read more about me here.

So I hope it is a little more apparent why I decided to call this blog Ingredients of Wellness!

I have a passion for many things wellness, and in this blog will be sharing knowledge, research and practice associated with some of the many dimensions of wellness.  Wellness is a word that tends to get thrown around much like ‘green’ or ‘eco’, but what do we really mean by the term wellness.  Wellness as discussed in much of the literature and amongst wellness professionals can be explained as this:

Wellness is a multidimensional state of being well, not just healthy.  A dynamic process where a person takes control of self and makes choices toward a more balanced and healthy existence, towards an improved quality of life physically, psychologically, spiritually, socially, environmentally and occupationally, to create the best chance of resilience to stress and disease.

In fact this is how I defined Wellness in my MoW research, a study which creates a case for ‘real’ wellness therapies in the workplace.

This multidimensional state of wellness opens this space to a variety of topics.  Access to abundant resources and information on many wellness topics and my continuing work in wellness research allows me to share the ‘state of wellness’ with like-minded people, who want to nourish their bodies and minds.

The blog will also provide an avenue to write about two of my other loves. The sharing of information, advice and special offers for the wonderful Miessence products that I represent here in Hong Kong through my business Organic Care HK.

The other; topics related to marine conservation – comes from a love of our oceans, and the wonderful creatures that live in a big beautiful blue world.  It is my long term objective to pursue research on the interrelationship between human wellness and our involvement in marine environments and marine conservation.  It is my hope, that through these pages, I can bring light to this interrelationship and have others share their ideas and views.
